How do I control humidity!?

Humidity can be properly controlled using a variable speed furnace or air handler as part as your HVAC system. Variable speed units run longer and at lower speeds allowing air to constantly circulate against the cooling coil removing additional moisture. Variable speed motors also use less electricity than traditional motors reducing energy costs.

What is the difference between R-22 and R-410a?

R-22 is the term commonly associated with hydro-chlorofluorocarbon (HCFC). The chlorine contained in R-22 is an ozone depleting agent, Manufacturers ceased using R-22 in 2010.

R-410A is the term commonly associated with hydro-flourocarbon (HFC). It is much more environmentally friendly and has replaced R-22 as the primary refrigerent in HVAC products.

Refrigerent is a primary factor to consider when working with older units.

What should I do with my current system?

Taking a detailed accessment of what you have is usually the best place to start, professional technicians can provide more accurate information to put together the right system for you.
The inspection should include, as a minimum, the condition of ductwork, insulation, refrigerant piping, electrical service, wiring, thermostat, condensate piping, flue piping, chimney liner, slabs, filters, grills, drains, and evaporator coil.

Why Should I purchase a new Heating or Air Conditioning System?

At Douglas Heating Supply we understand that purchasing a new system is no small matter. Simply put, if your current system is old, in need of service, or simply inefficient the energy savings cost of a newer higher effiency system often pays for replacement.

What goes into a new system?

Ductwork! Its all about the ductwork! Ductwork is composed of two parts, supply and return. The supply is determined by size and location of each zone in the building. Return Ductwork draws air back to the unit through an air filter providing ultimate effiency and allows the air to cycle. A quality ductwork schematic is extremely important and can be provided right here at Douglas Heating Supply.
